FASHION FORECAST – Our Daily Trend: Embellishment

More is more! Christmas is, by tradition, the most decadent of seasons and so what better time to implement the current embellishment trend then now?
Decoration with pearls, crystals, sequins and embroidery is how it is worn today, with the high street sparkling brightly with sparkling creations. As ever, the trend started life on the catwalk, and this stunning embroidered creation by Stella McCartney (reminds us of our previous S/S ‘fleur’ dresses) is the most beautiful of designs.

V&V have brought to shining example the Elicea sequin top and Valenti Tunic with be-jewelled collar. And remember, for shy girls; shoes, bags and hats can be adorned if the rest of you prefers the demure look.

Fashion Forecast: Our Daily Trend; Cobalt blue.

Our Daily Trend: Cobalt Blue

The colour we’ve blogged about in past news features: blue, in all its entirety, is set to trend well into 2013. It was heavily featured this Spring/Summer, represented by Valour and Valkyrie in the form of our Fleur Print dresses and Tidiana shrug and dress amongst others. We marched cobalt blue forward into our present A/W collection – see our Ciaga Blouse for some sheer inspiration. And it’s not just us at V&V who have rocked this trend – check Antoni & Alison, Stella McCartney and Erdam for their takes on all hues oceanic. And the great reason to wear cobalt this Winter? It offers a brightening pop of colour against a muted palette of seasonal browns. And it looks great teamed with black – the Winter staple. Fast forward to S/S ’13 and blue features in the form of Royal Blue colour blocking. Kate Middleton will be pleased…

FASHION FORECAST. Our Daily Trend: Prints

Our Daily Trend: Prints

Prints have been big news throughout 2012. We have seen geometric at Prada, retro vintage Versace (very 1990’s supermodel), silk peacock print at Valour and Valkyrie, florals at Rochas – no design was too bold or bonkers enough! And the trend is set to continue through to 2013 with florals blooming in Spring and monochrome everywhere. A sure-fire way to get you noticed is to wear mismatched patterns, or keep things simple in a clean, head to toe print. In short, the new prints turn a basic piece into something worth talking about.

China Fashion Week: Beijing

This week (as of November the 3rd) is the 15th China Fashion Week in Beijing which continues to showcase established players and up-and-coming names in Chinese fashion design. From newer designers like Chu Yan and Wei Hua to fixtures like NE-TIGER’s Zhang Zhifeng, the event continues its tradition of being more inwardly focused than its counterpart in Shanghai. Our designer Jo was in Shanghai in recent weeks and managed to photograph some of the intricate designs around the City. We loved this beautiful floral dress, shown on the Beijing catwalk, and draw our own inspirations from our up and coming s/s ’13 collection.
