“Behind the scenes” Catwalk 2017

Invited by the lovely ‘INNULondon’ aka Kim and ‘London Catwalk Society’ to showcase our collection ‘Spellbound’ 2017, for the second time @Kensington Roof Top, London.

We collated our collections ready for the big day. My lovely stylist and I were joined at the hip…. taking the models through their outfits and fitting and casting the finale pieces. Yes this was all happening on the actual day of the Catwalk! Jangled nerves , living life on cafe lattes and cigarettes, hair on end.  There is nothing quite like the adrenaline rush of leaving it to the last minute, however in true Fairy tale fashion, no deadline is too tight, no seam too difficult to finish. After all of that, this Fairytale would not have its Cinderella ending if it were all done ‘on-time’…lets face it, this is all done in the name of Fashion.

This time though, the pressure was on, as our debut for the season was taking place in conjunction with London Fashion Week ! 2016.

Behind the scenes…SS16

June 6th: Valour & Valkyrie shoot spring/ summer 2016 collection,

Brixton, London.

DSC_0585Summer 2015 advanced forward one year to future warmth and sunshine, with the photographing of Valour & Valkyrie’s spring/summer 2016 collection titled “ “. Inspiration, courtesy of the late, great Alexander McQueen and the films ’Sirens’ and ‘Snow White and the Huntsmen’ has produced the labels most exquisite collection to date.

The location for the shoot was a dance studio in Brixton; surrounded by streaming traffic, antiques stores, supermarkets and coffee shops, the Valour & Valkyrie team sought solace in the quiet and calm of the mirrored studio, the perfect foil for the light, airy shots that summer collections require. Elegantly statuesque among rails of sumptuous fabrics and flashes of colour, model Izzy wore each outfit with a playful coquettishness that photographer Lee captured perfectly.

Inspiration behind the collection is the notion of good versus bad, the angel represented here by the innocence of a delicate cream embroidered dress offset against the more devilish leather-look jacket, all hard lines and dark, tough fabric. The dip dye print in beautiful, soft greys and the use of layering and draping are key elements in the collection, which is imagined in the Sirens’ (from the film of the same name) emerging from water. Sequins playfully enhance this idea by adding a touch of mermaid-esque shimmer, akin to the ripple of early morning sunlight across water.

Shooting Valour & Valkyrie’s spring/summer ’16 collection: the shoot kickstarts with a simple white T off set with an intricate patterned tube-skirt.

Below left: samples from spring/summer ’16 highlight the sumptuous mix of fabrics and colours that make up the ‘Snow White’ collection; model Izzy relaxes in-between takes. DSC_0608DSC_0588Below right, bare footed simplicity is the perfect accompaniment for this pretty cream shift with delicate lace detailing.

DSC_0642The Key colour for spring/summer 2016 is deep green, which Valour & Valkyrie have incorporated into their collection by adding digital floral green prints which layer a stunning depth of green, reminiscent of a luscious forest canopy. The dip dye theme continues forward to high summer, emblazoning vivid dashes of lilac and shards of turquoise offset against a midnight black background. This is a stunning way of working another key colour trend for s/s 2016, lilac, into your wardrobe.

With the shoot quickly wrapped, it was time to depart in a flurry of silk, leather and sequins; heads whirling with romance and feminine playfulness.

London Catwalk Society features Valour & Valkyrie @ Kensington Roof Gardens

Valour & Valkyrie debuted with our AW15 Collection in advance of London Fashion week with the LONDON CATWALK SOCIETY at Kensington Roof Gardens on 31st January 2015.

We were delighted to collaborate with Kim Melville Smith at Innu London and John Fossey of Fossey Tango to bring our collection to life in the beautiful surroundings of Kensington Roof Gardens.

It was a riot of noise in-between make up, hair and dress fittings back stage whilst over 30 models practiced walking the runway and the choreographer planned the event.

We were so lucky to meet the back stage production team with Veena, Zizi and Nihal at the helm on hand to help with any top tips. As it happens they were completely invaluable as i don’t have a loud voice and needed an extra pair of lungs just rounding up the models for their fittings.

We were delighted to present our collection and also closely collaborate with the lovely Becky Byers for our stunning jewellery pieces that complimented the looks. Becky weaves her magic with raw semi precious gem stones and wire to produce light, ethereal, beautiful body ornaments and walking works of art.

We bring you a few of the snap shots for your delectation and the promise of a beautiful film to follow shortly….watch this space…
